From Baltimore, Maryland U.S.A., Phoebe Jean released her debut album Heartbreakers (Lentonia Records) last year. Her sound is a masterful blend of influences from lo-fi electro, hip hop, a bit of rock, a hint of funk and a touch of folk. The soundscape is unique, rough but still heady. Her voice brings beautiful stories of triumph over adventure, romance, rebellion and mystery. A kind of M.I.A. who would have had her heart broken and that would have been expressed through a bewitching lo-fi sound band.
